Location, location, location!
Summit County, where the town of Breckenridge resides, is full of outdoor opportunities, from hiking and biking the many trails in the area, to exploring old mining settlements and ghost towns, to all kinds of snow and winter sports.
Four ski areas—Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper, and Keystone—provide nearly 10,000 acres of skiing. Nordic Centers are sprinkled throughout the county for those who prefer to ski without a lift, as are hundreds of miles of trails. In spring, it's possible to experience the winter playground at 11,000 feet, and then drive 30 minutes to hiking and other warmer weather pursuits in the lower elevations.

A Small Town With A Big Atmosphere
Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, and the other little towns in Summit County definitely retain their small town atmosphere. As a resident, it's difficult to go to the grocery store, post office, or theater without running into someone you know. Service is still what you expect in a small town, with folks doing that extra bit to help you out. In addition to being able to find everything you need on a daily basis, you'll also find a very cosmopolitan atmosphere, the result of being a resort area. Art galleries abound and museums and mine tours explain the area's rich history. Coffee shops and restaurants are top quality. And Denver, with all the amenities of a large city, is only an hour and a half away, at least when the roads are clear!
