Welcome to Breckenridge For You, Jim Schlegel Breckenridge, Summit County and Frisco Real Estate Website

Explore Summit County !

Location, location, location!
Summit County, where the town of Breckenridge resides, is full of outdoor opportunities, from hiking and biking the many trails in the area, to exploring old mining settlements and ghost towns, to all kinds of snow and winter sports.
Four ski areas—Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper, and Keystone—provide nearly 10,000 acres of skiing. Nordic Centers are sprinkled throughout the county for those who prefer to ski without a lift, as are hundreds of miles of trails. In spring, it's possible to experience the winter playground at 11,000 feet, and then drive 30 minutes to hiking and other warmer weather pursuits in the lower elevations.

A Small Town With A Big Atmosphere
Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, and the other little towns in Summit County definitely retain their small town atmosphere. As a resident, it's difficult to go to the grocery store, post office, or theater without running into someone you know. Service is still what you expect in a small town, with folks doing that extra bit to help you out.
In addition to being able to find everything you need on a daily basis, you'll also find a very cosmopolitan atmosphere, the result of being a resort area. Art galleries abound and museums and mine tours explain the area's rich history. Coffee shops and restaurants are top quality. And Denver, with all the amenities of a large city, is only an hour and a half away, at least when the roads are clear!

Real Estate Tips
Buying Land and New Construction >New Homes

Buying a house that is under construction gives you the opportunity to customize your new home by adding special features to the basic home. When deciding on additional features, consider how they will affect the re-sale value of the home and whether these additions will over-improve your home.

Money spent to improve and modernize kitchens and bathrooms is almost always a good investment. Granite and corian counter tops, side-by-side refrigerators, tile flooring and whirlpool tubs are popular upgrades. If the builder's standard flooring for the living room, dining room or foyer is linoleum, changing to hardwood or tile will increase the resale value of the home. And even if you don't enjoy sitting around a roaring fireplace, the next owner may want one. If you plan to finish the basement later, you may want to "rough-in" the plumbing for a bath during the original construction. You should consider your own enjoyment--and what will increase the value of your home when you sell.
